PURPOSE:To provide transmission type optical integrated circuit and optical pickup capable of precisely efficiently detecting light in the same waveguide mode and improving productivity and suitable for integration and packaging. CONSTITUTION:After a laser beam outputted from a semiconductor laser 22 of a substrate 17 side is made parallel rays of light by a collimate lens 23, they transmit through the optical integration circuit from a transparent substrate 10 side, and are converged by an objective lens 24 to be incident on a magneto- optical disk 26. The laser beams reflected by the magnetic recording part 28 of the disk 26 and collimated nearly by the objective lens 24 are led into a waveguide layer 12 by grating couplers 14A, 14B, and become waveguide beams 30A, 30B in the same mode whose polarizing directions intersect orthogonally with each other. These waveguide beams are emitted and converged on the substrate 17 side by outgoing couplers 16A, 16B to be photoelectric converted by photodetectors 18A, 18B. |
