Colouring glass prior to glass-forming operations

A process for colouring glass comprises: (a) passing the mass of hot glass axially in the larger direction of the plasma zone of an inductive plasma reactor; and (b) injecting reactive substances able to coat and/or react with the surface of the glass in order to colour it. The mass of glass is introduced into the reactor in the form of molten or viscous drops that fall into the reactor under gravity, whilst the flow of the plasmagenic gas in the reactor is in a vertical direction. The device used for the process is also claimed and comprises: (a) an inductive plasma reactor or induction plasma torch arranged vertically; (b) a means for crossing the mass of glass through the plasma zone; and (c) a means for injecting the appropriate reactive substances.
