Disinfection of air by blowing through fresh deciduous-tree sawdust

The air is forced through a duct (1) within which a sack (3) of air-permeable cotton cloth closed at both ends (4, 5) and held tightly by a bellows-like sealing element (6) is filled with a mixt. (12) of fine sawdust and wood shavings.Movement of the sack along the duct is prevented by an inflatable collar (7) between supports (8) at its downstream end. The mixt. is kept moist by supply of water to a distributor (11) around the upstream end. Any escaping dust is intercepted by a fine filter (14). The sack and its contents can be extracted through a hatch (13) for composting.
