Factor with insulin-like activity from yeast extract

Prepn. of a factor (I) with insulin-like activity comprises: (a) filtering an aq. yeast extract through a membrane with an exclusion limit of 2000Da; (b) applying the filtrate to an anion exchanger and eluting at pH 8.5-10; (c) collecting active fractions and applying them to a gel filtration column; (d) collecting active fractions, applying them to a hydrophobic adsorber resin and eluting with water; (e) collecting active fractions and applying to a gel filtration column; (f) collecting active fractions, applying them to a column of lipophilic modified silica gel and eluting with a mobile phase contg. MeCN and Cf3COOH; and (g) collecting active fractions. Also claimed is the prod. of above process.
