A multi-purpose limit switch has a housing with a contact capsule (4a) that has a roller actuator element (14). This is displaced axially when a stick element (10) is moved. The movement is provided by a push button pad (16) that is displaced against the action of a coil spring (15). Within the top section of the housing is a latch element (20) that is moved by a spring (21) to hold the actuator in the engaged position. The actuator module (8) can be mounted in different positions on the base.
