Chromatography apparatus (10) including an enclosure having a pressurizable chamber sized to removably receive a chromatography cartridge (18) therein and an opening to the chamber, and a cap (14, 16) that closes the opening and has a flow passage (14, 16) for directing a sample to be analyzed to the cartridge (18), the cap (14, 16) having a sharp protruding member that surrounds the flow opening (14, 16) and makes sealable engagement with the cartridge (18) by digging into the cartridge (18).
