<p>Method of determining a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) distribution in a part of a body using an arrangement of multiple surface coils. In the method, by means of separate surface coils, component distributions are determined and the component distributions are combined to form said NMR distribution. The component distributions are combined to form a distribution Ihom which is optimal with respect to homogeneity and are also combined to form a distribution ISNR which is optimal with respect to signal-to-noise ratio. The distributions Ihom and ISNR are combined to form said NMR distribution, preferably by determining a smoothed ratio of Ihom and ISNR and use that ratio to correct ISNR for homogeneity. Also an apparatus to perform the method is disclosed.</p> |
