In the separator part (6) of the churning cylinder (4) the majority of the buttermilk is separated from the butter solids and is led away as the first partial flow via the buttermilk outlet (7). In a press (9) the mixture of butter solids and buttermilk emerging from the churning cylinder (4) is separated into butter and a second partial flow of buttermilk which is collected in the buttermilk sump (11). All of this buttermilk, which still contains smaller particles of butter solids, is returned to the churning cylinder (4) via the buttermilk outlet pipe (12). The particles of butter solids agglomerate with the larger butter particles and can then be separated from the buttermilk in the press (9). There is thus no need for a special device for separating off the particles of butter solids.
|
