A device (1) for delivering a substance to an application site comprises a substance flow division arrangement (3) having ducts which increase in number continuously to form a plurality of substance outlet mouths (600) distributed over the application area. The distance (A) between two adjacent outlets ranges from 3 to 20 mm, and the outlet openings (60) are arranged at a distance from the operating site (8) such that they open out into an empty space between themselves and the operating site (8). A method of delivering a substance and cleaning the device (1) is characterized in that the substance to be applied is delivered to the operating site (8) with a distance between the outlet mouths (600) and the operating site (8) of 1 to 100 mm, and the dividing arrangement (3) extracts the substance during the cleaning operation, the distance between the operating site (8) and outlet mouths (600) being selected in a range from 1 to 10 mm. |
