The use of piperidine derivs. of formula (I) and their salts, hydrates and isomers in the prophylaxis and therapy of disorders of cerebral function is new: R1, R2 and R3 = H, opt. substd. alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, or COX; X = H, alkyl, cycloalkylalkyl, alkenyl, alkoxy, aryl, heteroaryl or NYZ; Y, Z = H, opt. substd. Ph or alkyl; or NYZ = a cyclic gp. opt. contg. O or S; ACCCCB = opt. mono- or di-unsatd., opt. substd. cyclic gp. Also claimed is the use of antagonist of nicotinergic acetylcholine receptors for the treatment and prevention of disorders of cerebral function.
