A motor vehicle rooftrunk for a folding invalid chair (7) has a fixed housing (5) secured to the vehicle roof and a movable housing (6) which slides sideways out of the housing (5) supported by its sideplates (25) and guide rollers (21).A suspension attachment (14) connects the chair (7) to the moving housing (6) during raising and lowering operations which are powered by a traction cable (15) and electric motor (M). The moving housing (6) is enabled to move to a position which clears the vehicle side by virtue of a pair of travelling sliderails (19) and the rollers (20, 21) when its closing side (13) pivots away to allow the chair (7) to be grounded and detached from the cable hook (24).
