Reciprocating IC engine with camshaft for control of engine valves

The reciprocating IC engine has a camshaft (1) for control of the engine valves (2), with cams (3) arranged along the camshaft axis (4) at intervals corresponding to the positions of the valve push rods (5). Each cam position has a double cam comprising two asymmetrical opposing radial eccentric plates (6,7), or a triple cam with three eccentric plates.The camshaft is driven from the crankshaft through a reducing gear, which steps the rotating speed of the camshaft down to half the speed of the crankshaft, multiplied by the reciprocal value of the number of cams. An ignition timer designed for the number of cylinders multiplied by the number of eccentric plates is directly flange-mounted onto the camshaft.
