PURPOSE:To eliminate a decrease in resolution, consumption of wasteful heat quantity, and to obtain a fresh image by deciding density of an image of a recording sheet at the time of reheating the sheet in a heat transfer printer for aiding diffusion of ink by reheating the sheet, and adding a quantity of heat corresponding to the density to the sheet. CONSTITUTION:After ink is completely transferred, a part not coated with ink of a transfer sheet 13 is brought into close contact with a recording sheet 14, and a drive pulse based on a heat generation signal is applied to a heat generating resistor 15 of a thermal head 11 in this state to reheat the sheet 14. Here, at the time of reheating, the resistor 15 of the head 11 has large quantity of heat in a high density part in response to the image density of a horizontal zone and small quantity of heat in a low density part. Accordingly, the sheet 14 can be reheated by the quantity of heat corresponding to the density, and ink of high density part can be effectively diffused without decrease in resolution in the low density part or without consumption of wasteful quantity of heat. |
