The hose is wound on a spiral body (1) constructed from tubes (3) and rotatable on a shaft (4) about a vertical axis (2). Radial horizontal supporting surfaces (5) of the body are in a spiral formation around its periphery. Water is pumped via the test pump from the hydrant on a test water holding tank (15) into the coupling. The test is observed from behind a transparent wall (16) forming an octagonal enclosure around the spiral body, with flaps over access openings. A platform carrying the hose reel (6a) and a high-pressure washing nozzle (28) can be lowered in synchronism with the rotation of the drum.</p>
