PURPOSE: To prepare a pharmaceutical composition containing benzothiophene derivative and progestin, capable of retaining and increasing a bone density, preventing the bone loss and useful for treatment of osteoporosis. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition contains a progestin selected from medroxyprogesterone, norethindrone or norethynodrel, or a salt thereof, and a compound of the formula [R and R<1> are each H, hydroxyl, a 1-6C alkoxy, a 1-6C acyloxy, etc.; R<2> is a 1-3C alkyl, a 1-3C alkoxy, H or a halo; R<3> is a 1-6C alkoxy or aryloxy; (n) is 2-4; (p) is 4-6], a salt thereof, or a solvate thereof as an active ingredient. A dosage of the compound of the formula is 0.1-1,000 mg, and that of the progestin is 0.01-500 mg/kg. |
