PURPOSE:To provide a production method of the subject compound, capable of using a catalyst repeatedly, in separating a catalyst from a hydroformylation reaction product, by conducting it in keeping heat stability of the catalyst, since its heat load is little, and simultaneously without accumulating a high boiling point condensed product produced under the reaction condition, since it is separated to the same organic layer with a remaining not extracted organic substances. CONSTITUTION:A method for production of 1,9-nonanedial comprises conducting a hydroformylation reaction of 7-octene-1-al in the presence of (a) a rhodium compound, and (b) a tertially phosphine of general formula PR1R2R3 (R1, R2 and R3 are each a 1-10C alkyl or aryl group, and R1, R2 and R3 have each a substituent of an alkali metal salt of sulfonic acid), and conducting an extraction treatment with water for obtaining 1,9-nonanedial from the remaining not extracted layer. |
