PURPOSE: To provide a head-mounted visor with variable transmittance which is capable of rapid response when the intensity of the external light is changed by providing at least two zones with different values of absorption of light which is exclusive for one of external spaces to be scanned by the sight of a pilot. CONSTITUTION: A visor 3 comprises two zones 31 and 32 corresponding to the angles of sightα1 andα2 in the perpendicular direction by the scan of the sight of a pilot 1, and their origin is set, for example, at eyes 7 of the pilot 1. The upper zone 31 is used for the pilot to look at the exterior of an aircraft. The lower zone 32 should be maintained lighter than the upper zone 31 even when the intense light radiation is present. In the lower zone 32 of the visor 3, a photochromic substance is selected, for example, so that the lower zone absorbs less light than the upper zone 31, and the range of the light transmission is narrower than that in the upper zone. The range of the light transmission in the lower zone 32 can be changed between 85% and 40%, for example, from a bright space to a darkened space.
