PURPOSE:To obtain a cotton-like processed material composed of a compounded fiber composed mainly of a polylactic acid usable as a cushioning material or a heat-insulation material safe to the environment and provide a process for the production of the material. CONSTITUTION:This cotton-like processed material composed of a compounded fiber composed mainly of a polylactic acid is produced by extruding a molten composition composed mainly of a polylactic acid through a small gap by centrifugal force and cooling the extruded material with air.
