PURPOSE:To provide a protective film forming apparatus capable of bonding a material to be recorded and a protective film forming material with high close adhesiveness without increasing the number of processes. CONSTITUTION:In the adhesion of a material to be recorded consisting of a base material and the dye receiving layer formed thereon and having a longitudinal length of 100mm or less and a protective film forming material containing a transparent base material and the thermoplastic resin layer formed thereon, a protective film forming apparatus bonding the material 42 to be recorded and the protective film forming material 4 at least one of which has a near IR absorbing photothermal conversion layer is used. The protective film forming apparatus is equipped with a pressure member 39 pressing the receiving layer of the material to be recorded and the thermoplastlc resin layer of the protective film forming material both of which are superposed one upon another on the side of the material to be recorded, the support member 41 supporting the protective film forming material and composed of a light pervious material and an irradiation device 40 emitting IR flash light. The surface supporting the protective film forming material of ths support member is a convex surface constituted of a circular arc with a radius of curvature of 200-1000. |
