<p>PURPOSE:To provide a control method for tension between stands in continuous hot rolling mill, capable of conducting a stable operation when a rolling stock and louver are separated. CONSTITUTION:When tension between stands detected by a tension detector 12 is below a prescribed first lower limit of the tension between stands, the tension sigma1 between stands is estimated by means of a tension model as an equation shown below and, until the tension detected by the detector 12 is restored to a prescribed second lower limit of the tension between stands, a mill velocity in the upstream side is controlled so that the estimated tension and a target value of the tension between stands match with each other. Thus, a control is performed on a rapid and large fluctuation of the tension between stands in a manual intervention, junction point and a changing part of a running plate width, stably and with a high responsiveness.
