PRODUCTION OF SUBSTITUTED PHENYLHYDRAZONE

摘要

Prepn. of a substituted phenylhydrazone (I) from a diazonium salt and a 1,3-dicarbonyl cpd. (II) comprises a) reacting an aniline deriv. with hydrochloric acid; b) adding an aq. soln. of sodium nitrite; c) reacting with (II) in an inert solvent (III) which is not miscible with water such as an aromatic hydrocarbon. Also claimed is the use of the prod. (I) for indole synthesis using the Fischer process.
