PURPOSE:To obtain an alumina-magnesia-carbon brick inhibiting the occurrence of thermal stress while preventing the expansion of a joint in the case of conventional alumina-silicon carbide-carbonaceous refractories and maintaining the effect over a long period of time. CONSTITUTION:When an alumina-magnesia-carbon brick is composed of 3-94wt.% aluminous refractory material, 3-94wt.% magnesian refractory material and 3-30wt.% carbonaceous material, coarse magnesia particles surface-coated with a carbonaceous material are used as all or part of the magnesian refractory material and the carbonaceous material. The objective alumina-magnesia- carbon brick is obtd.
