PURPOSE:To improve the workability in the selection of a size and to effectively put the width of a tape to practical use to achieve the printing of desired character arrangement by applying character modification in a character row to set a size on the basis of the width of the tape with respect to a character desired to be emphasized or discriminated and other character. CONSTITUTION:A character modification setting means 32 capable of setting at least one of character modifications such as an under line and the like and an automatic size mode setting means 32 for selecting an automatic size mode setting a character size to the max. size permitted by the width of a tape are provided. A printing control means C forms dot pattern size data setting a character size to the max. size permitted by the width of the tape when not character modification is set and dot pattern data setting a character size including character modification to the max. size permitted by the width of the tape or less when the character modification is set on the basis of the inputted, set or detected width data of the tape. |
