PURPOSE:To obtain a high density clear yellow record good in light fastness by low energy by using a thermal transfer sheet having a colorant layer composed of a monoazo dye for thermal transfer represented by the specific formula. CONSTITUTION:A monoazo dye for thermal transfer is represented by the formula I (wherein R<1> and R<2> are respectively independently a hydrogen atom, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, a substituted or non-substituted alkoxy group, a halogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a substituted or non-substituted alkoxycarbonyl group, a substituted or non-substituted alkylsulfonyl group or an acylamino group, R<3> is a hydrogen atom or a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, X is a carbon atom or a nitrogen atom and Y is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group). When this dye is used to form a colorant layer on a thermal sheet, usually, the dye is dissolved or dispersed in a medium along with a binder to prepare ink and this ink is applied to a base film to be dried. |
