The method comprises the steps of detecting tone and rhythm data from MIDI data and setting a maximum record limit value to compress the tone and rhythm data; forming data of a compressure tone and rhythm up to the maximum record limit value; coding the tone data as a value of the compressure tone data table, coding the rhythm as a value of a second data table, and converting the coded rhythm data into data of 1 byte, if the tone data is positioned in the compressure tone data table; and coding the tone data as a value except the maximum record limit value, coding the rhythm as a value of the second data table, converting the coded rhythm data into data of 1 byte, and storing the original tone data in a following data of 1 byte, if the tone data is not positioned in the compressure tone data table;
