Electrolyte liquid level controller for use during filling of electrochemical battery cell

The level controller has level sensors (10) and a controller (50) responding to the level sensor. The sensors are three electrodes that are inserted into the cell and provide a current path through the electrolyte when two or more of them are in contact with the electrolyte. The electrodes provide sensing of minimum and maximum filling levels. The lengths of the electrodes can be adjusted. The top of the electrodes in housed in a sealed ring. The controller has a reversible pump that delivers the electrolyte. A logic circuit controls the starting and direction of the pump. The logic circuit responds to the sensor electrodes and has internal timers to allow filling time. The pump is reversed if the cell is over-filled.
