PURPOSE:To decompose growth promoting component of a plant to be discharged from food, etc., and to suppress growth promotion, i.e., aging progress of the food, etc., by disposing a gas removing unit having a gas decomposing member made of a photocatalyst and a lamp for emitting an ultraviolet ray thereto in a storage chamber for the food, etc. CONSTITUTION:A partition wall 5 for forming, for example, a ceiling of a vegetable chamber in a refrigerator is formed by filling heat insulator 4 in an inner box 3. In this case, a recess 20 is formed on a lower surface of the wall 5, i.e., a ceiling of the chamber, and a gas removing unit 19 is disposed in the recess 20. The unit 19 is composed of a gas decomposing member 22 and an ultraviolet lamp 23 in a case 21. On the other hand, a lower surface of the unit 19 is covered with a protective cover 26. Thus, growth promoting component of a plant made of ethylene, acetaldehyde, etc., discharged from vegetable, etc., stored therein is decomposed to water, carbon dioxide, etc., and removed. Accordingly, growth promotion, i.e., aging progress of the vegetable can be suppressed. |
