PURPOSE:To reduce the thickness in the thrust direction of a developer wall formed out of magnetic members and prevent the reduction of the development effective width of a developing sleeve by the developer wall in a developing device preventing the leak of a developer from near both ends with the magnetic members near both ends in the thrust direction of the developing sleeve. CONSTITUTION:The layer thickness of the developer stuck on the surface of a developing sleeve 220 storing a magnet roller 210 and rotated in one direction is set to the prescribed thickness by a layer thickness regulating means 230, the latent image on an image carrier is developed by the developer, and the leak of the developer from both end sections is prevented by magnetic members 160 arranged at a clearance near both ends of the developing sleeve 220 in this developing device. The clearance near the layer thickness regulating means 230 is made wider than the clearance at other portions, the magnetic constraining force by the magnetic members 160 is weakened, and the developer wall thickness is made thin. |
