<p>PURPOSE:To industrially advantageously produce a color filter which is clear in color and excellent in optical characteristics and to produce a liquid crystal display device of high image quality. CONSTITUTION:The color filter is produced by (a) forming a transparent conductive layer 2 on a transparent substrate 1, (b) forming a light-shielding positive type photoresist layer thereon, (c) exposing this resist layer via a photomask 4 varying in three stages including light transmittance of substantially zero, then developing away the pattern parts having the high light transmittance to expose the surface of the transparent conductive layer, (d) etching away this surface to form the substrate having the transparent conductive layer on the lower layer and the photoresist layer on the upper layer, (e) removing the pattern parts of the small light transmittance remaining after development to expose the surface of the transparent conductive layer in a fine piece form, (f) forming a colored layer 8 by electrodeposition thereon, (g) removing the photoresist having the light transmittance of substantially zero remaining after the development to form the substrate having the colored layers in the fine piece form and the exposing spacings therebetween, (h) forming a light- shielding negative type resist layer 9 on the substrate and (i) exposing the substrate from its rear surface, then developing the resist layer and curing the negative type resist layer remaining after the development.</p> |
