The compass casing comprises a lower case section (1) with an open top and a plastic one piece upper body (9). This upper body has a transparent front part (96) with a top and bottom face. An annular collar (95) extends continuously towards the internal face periphery base. The collar external face has a circumferential cavity (91). A peripheral notch (92), traverses both cavity and collar. When the upper body (90) annular collar is inserted into the lower case (15,16), the transparent front part covers its open top. The one piece upper body may be of transparent plastic. The magnetic needle (3) pivots within the lower case, over a position lever (2) end (20), its outer end (22) extending through elongated slot (12) and notch, in slider (4) cam (40).
