PURPOSE:To facilitate the fine adjustment of the damping force by rotatably mounting a select valve where an orifice to throttle a bypass oil passage is formed in a hollow rod. CONSTITUTION:An oil passage 51 which is communicated with a compression side main oil passage 25 and forms a part of a second bypass oil passage to be commonly used both for the compression side and for thc expansion side is formed in a piston 8, and an orifice 52 for common use is formed in a select valve 30. In addition, a communicating hole 53 facing the oil passage 51 corresponding to this orifice is formed in a hollow rod 7. This forms the second bypass oil passage for common use to bypass a compression side main valve 11, an expansion side main valve 12, a compression side sub valve 13 and an expansion side sub valve 14. The opening of the second bypass oil passage for common use is changed by the orifice 52 of the select valve 30. Thus, the independent damping force characteristic on the compression side and the expansion side can be easily set. |
