METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR PERFORMING MAINTENANCE AND TEST OF ATM TYPE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PURPOSE: To maintain or test the communication network which is adapted to the ATM standards or similar standards. CONSTITUTION: This method for maintaining a network which is adapted to the ATM standards consists of a step for reading a carried cell out at a point (P) of the network (R) and a step for performing a preprocessing wherein a read cell is formed to select a cell effective in performing test operation and at least part of control information is recalculated and shaped into the form of a message together with received control information, and the message is preprocessed so as to verify whether the recalculated control information matches the received control information. Especially, this is applied for control over a data cell flow and communication protocol of a local network.
