PURPOSE:To improve the gasification and desulfurization efficiencies, by gasifying heavy fuel in a fluidized bed at a high temperature, using calcined dolomite and a specific oxide as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Heavy fuel, e.g. topping residual oil, etc. is reformed with steam in a fluidized bed at a high temperature, e.g. 700-1,200 deg.C, preferably 800-1,100 deg.C, using a composite catalyst of (a) calcined dolomite, which is a fluid agent and catalyst, and (b) an oxide of metal selected from nickel, copper, iron, and zinc. The metallic oxide is preferably used in an amount of about 1-30 wt.% based on the calcined dolomite. Preferably, the weight ratio of the steam to the fuel is about 1-5:1, and the residence time is 5 sec or less. |
