PURPOSE:To improve readability by storing the contour information of characters by a vector system, attaching reduction information thereto and subjecting the data to reduction processing by this reduction information in the case of a low-dot output, thereby forming dot display type data. CONSTITUTION:The contour information of the characters is stored by a vector system (for example, outline system) in a device (a) and the reduction information is previously attached thereto. The character data are fetched out of this storage device (a) according to input codes and is sent to a converter b). This converter (b) converts the received data to a dot system from an outline system and stores the data into a character buffer (d). At this time, the data are subjected to the reduction processing C by the incidental reduction information if an assigned size is below 48 dots X 48 dots. The data are then stored into the character buffer (d). The data of the dot system obtained in such a manner are applied as the dot display type data to an output device (e). As a result, the characters having the excellent readability are realized even with such intricate characters which are not completely corrected by correction in in the program. |
