The vehicle (1) has a space for mounting interchangeable machines (12) on a chassis supported by front (2) and rear (3) wheeled axles with a cab (5) which can be swung into various operating positions. The chassis has an offset longitudinal main beam (4) and the engine (8) being parallel to the beam. The mounting space available for different machines can extend over the offset engine to the sides of the vehicle and as low as the terrain will allow beneath the vehicle clear of the offset beam. The machine can project over the front and rear of the vehicle.
