Catching clamping and release mechanism for double spools in wire and cable industry

A spool catcher disc (2) has an axial opening (3) near to its periphery which accepts a catching insert (1). The insert has an extension (4) which is mounted torsionally resistant and slidably within the opening. The catcher disc and catching insert have holes (14) through which a retainer (13), mounted on the disc, passes. The retainer is coupled to the catcher insert through a spring (11) and an adjuster (15) within the extension. An actuator, mounted on the chassis of the spool, acts axially on the insert and against the spring pressure to release the wound material.
