The description relates to a device and process for measuring and calculating the geometrical parameters of an object (100). The device comprises a basic body (10), a mobile and rotatable support (12) for the object (100), at least two mobile optical area measuring sensors (14, 16), at least two illuminating devices (18, 20) allocated to said area measuring sensors (14, 16), travel and angle detectors (22, 24, 26, 28) allocated to the mobile and rotatable support (12) and the mobile optical area measurement sensors (14, 16), a monitor (30) which can be coupled to the area measurement sensors (14, 16), a computer (32) coupled to the travel and angle detectors (22, 24, 26, 28) and the optical area measurement sensors (14, 16) or the monitor (30), with a data input device (34) and controllable travel and rotation drives (36, 38, 40, 42) for the support (12) and the area measurement sensors (14, 16). The optical axes (44, 46) of the area measurement sensors (14, 16)run perpendicularly to each other and perpendicularly and/or parallel to the axis of rotation (50) of the support (12). A first area measurement sensor (14) takes the form of a transmitted light measurement sensor and is arranged on a first slide (52) movable perpendicularly to the axis of rotation (50) of the support (12). At least one second area measurement sensor (16) takes the form of an incident light measuring sensor and is arranged on a second mobile slide (54). The second slide (54) is borne on the first slide (52) and movable perpendicularly to axis of rotation (50) of the support and to the direction of travel of the first slide (52). The support (12) and the first slide (52) can be moved relatively to each other longitudinally to the axis of rotation (50) of the support (12).
