PURPOSE: To provide a 6-catamer containing an amino acid chain, which is an antigen epitope for a foot-and-mouth disease virus A10 subtype or its molecular topological equivalent and represented by a specific formula, and a chain selected from a group consisting of immunologically active equivalents of the amino acid chain. CONSTITUTION: An obtained 6-catamer contains an amino acid chain, which is an antigen epitope for a foot-and-mouth disease virus A10 subtype or its molecular topological equivalent and is represented by the formula (W, M, K, H, Q, R, S, G represent single letter symbols for amino acids), and a chain selected from a group consisting of immunologically active equivalents of the amino acid chain. The immunologically active equivalent means an amino acid chain possessing an acetyl protection group or an amino acid chain supported by a supporting body. A short chain equivalent to the foot-and-mouth disease virus A10 subtype antigen epitope can be connected to the same antibody as the epitope. Using these, a reagent useful for diagnosis and remedy for the foot and mouth disease can be designed.
