Photographic image display material and method of printing.

A colour photographic display element comprises a support bearing blue-green and red- light sensitive emulsion layers, the blue-light sensitive layer comprising a tabular grain silver halide emulsion of av. equiv. circular dia. 0.3-2.5 microns and having at least 50% of the grain projected area accounted for by tabular grains which are bonded by (100) major faces having adjacent edge ratios of less than 10 and which each have an aspect ratio of at least 2, the halide comprising greater than about 95 mol.% chloride and being spectrally sensitised with a blue sensitising dye producing a peak blue sensitivity at 440-475 nm, the peak blue sensitivity being separated from the peak green sensitivity by greater than 75 nm. Pref. the blue sensitising dye is selected from dyes (I)-(IV) where SP = -CH2CH2CH2SO3-. The support is a reflective or transparent support. The tabular silver halide grains have an at. thickness of less than 0.3 microns. The blue-green-and red-light sensitive tabular grains have in reactive association a yellow, magenta and cyan dye-forming image coupler respectively. At least one of the green or red light sensitive layers comprises tabular grains of average aspect ratio greater than 2. The element comprises a soluble light-absorbing dye removable on photographic processing. The green sensitive layer comprises a substd. pyrazolotriazole or 3-aminopyrazolone magenta dye forming image coupler. The blue light sensitive layer is closer to the support than a green- or red-light sensitive layer. The display element is a colour photographic paper, advertising transparency, motion picture print film or intermediate film ADVANTAGE : The element provides improved colour reproduction, reduced image granularity and reduced printing times.
