A preparation effective against diseases of the mouth cavity is obtained by inoculating a nutrient medium containing powdered unroasted coffee beans, carbohydrates, a source of nitrogen and trace elements and having a pH of 5-7, with bacteria which in the form of saliva and/or smears have been taken from the mouth of a healthy human or humans suffering from diseases of the mouth cavity, and allowing the bacteria to grow under non-sterile conditions in surface or submerged culture at a temperature of 18-28 DEG C. and the culture broth, preferably after clarification, is incorporated into a pharmaceutical carrier. In the example, boiling water is added to oat-flakes and unroasted green coffee beans. The mixture is cooled, the pH adjusted with tartaric acid, inoculated with saliva and a smear taken from the mouth cavity of a human suffering from aphthosis and inoculated at 25 DEG C. for three weeks. The broth is clarified, passed through a bacteria-proof filter and a preservative added. Products having a deodorizing activity are obtained by adding chlorophyll or chlorophyll-containing vegetable material, e.g. spinach or beet leaves, to the culture medium. The preparation may be incorporated in sprayable liquids, pastes, e.g. tooth pastes, chewing gum, tablets and ointments.ALSO:A preparation effective against diseases of the mouth cavity is obtained by inoculating a nutrient medium containing powdered unroasted green coffee beans, carbohydrates, a source of nitrogen and trace elements and having a pH of 5 to 7, with bacteria which in the form of saliva and/or smears have been taken from the mouth cavity of healthy humans or humans suffering from diseases of the mouth cavity and allowing the bacteria to grow under non-sterile conditions in surface or submerged culture at 18 DEG to 28 DEG C. and incorporating the culture broth, preferably after clarification, in a pharmaceutical carrier.
