PURPOSE:To record sharp image even by using a heat mode recording material having high threshold value effect, by arranging a semiconductor laser and a wavelength plate so that laser beams are synthesized by crossing the respective long axes of the cross-sectional shapes of the respective laser beams at an almost central part. CONSTITUTION:The laser beam 17 oscillated from a semiconductor laser 12 is incident to a 1/2 wavelength plate 16 and subjected to P-polarization to be incident to a polarized beam splitter 18. The laser beam 23 oscillated from a semiconductor laser 20 is incident to a 1/2 wavelength plate 27 and subjected to S-polarization to be incident to the polarized beam splitter 18. Since the semiconductor lasers 12, 20 are arranged so that the PN junction planes thereof are slightly inclined with respect to a vertical direction, synthesized beam 24 is formed by crossing the respective long axes of the cross-sectional shapes of the laser beams 17, 23 at the almost central pat of the beam splitter 18. Therefore, the overlapped part of the synthesized beam 24 becomes high intensity and the cross-sectional shape thereof becomes almost oval. |
