PURPOSE:To improve responsiveness of a gas sensor, by providing a metal layer on the outer surface of a gas diffusion control body in a gas sensor provided with the gas diffusion control body to connect the metal layer to an electrode in the gas diffusion control body. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 3 and 3' are provided respectively on the surface and back of an ion conducting plate 2 comprising a solid electrolyte and a gas diffusion control body 5 having a tiny hole 4 is put over one side of the ion conducting plate 2. Then, a metal layer 8 of platinum or the like is arranged at a part of the outer surface of the gas diffusion control body 5 and connected to the electrode 3' within the gas diffusion control body 5 with a lead l whereby the response of a gas sensor can be improved. This is inferred from the following reason and others: Electric charge on the gas control body 5 becomes easy to release with an aid of the metal layer 8. |
