The method comprises the steps of initializing a character interval counter and a shadow data register in response to a reception of a shadow character code; assigning the address of an output buffer by a value of a compensation register; checking a column position by comparing a value of the letter interval counter with a preset column value; when the value of the existing character interval counter is larger than the preset value, printing the shadow data stored in the shadow data register and character data inputted from the outside, and shifting the shadow data stored in the shadow data register; and if the value of the present character interval counter is smaller than the preset value, storing the value in the compensating register after subtracting the value of the character inverter counter from the preset column value.
