This is a system (14) for plugging a portion of a pipe comprising a box (1) equipped with a body (2) and with a dismantleable piece fixed to the body by a coupling flange (3). It includes a removable piece (15) for plugging the portion of pipe equipped with a core (16, 35) of cylindrical or substantially cylindrical shape, the cylindrical wall of which includes at least one peripheral groove (17), the bottom of which is connected to an internal channel (45), the said groove being equipped with a solid O-ring seal (18, 41) made of elastomeric material able to deform radially so as to be partly extruded out of the groove, a removable cover (21) which can be fixed onto the coupling flange, and means for coupling the internal channel to a pressurising device (23), via the cover. <IMAGE>
