The anchor clamp (1) for a cable (2) having a core able to withstand traction has a sleeve (3) extending in the direction of the traction of the cable. The sleeve has a fixing lug (4) with a slot (3a) along its length, in which there is a groove (5) that widens in the sense of traction of the cable. The groove houses a sliding jaw (7,8) that has inward facing teeth on either side. The cable is fitted between the teeth and as the cable is tensioned the jaws compress to clamp tightly round the cable. The teeth of the jaw have a diametrically triangular profile defining transverse stops.
