The system has two guide rails fastened to opposite sides of a roof opening to shift a mainly rectangular sunroof, which has an opening and closing mechanism. The guide rails are designed as telescoping rails (11), and are connected via a pair of compressed springs (12) to opposite sides of the sunroof. Each spring is connected by a link (16) at one end to a rail, and at the other end to the sunroof. In the closed position, the link is situated below the rail, and in the open position it is situated above it. The link can also be situated near a corner of the sunroof, and can take the form of an axle link, whose forked component (18) is connected to the spring by means of a cylindrical bolt (19).
