A volumetric dispensing and discharging unit for liquid detergents and additives is for household washing machines and dishwashers. It has a dispensing chamber with an adjustable volume controlled by a control unit (31) operated by means of a timer (32). The control unit (31) controls the transfer of detergent and additives from a container (110) into the dispensing chamber and then from there into the washing space (37) of the machine. An additional device (23) is provided for regulating a changeable volume of the dispensing chamber in accordance with changing amounts of detergent and additives to be introduced into the wash space of the machine.
