Method and appts. for checking the accuracy of a thermal cutting machine

The method concerns checking of the accuracy of movement of a thermal cutting machine incorporating a carrier structure (1) which is driven along longitudinal guideways (4,5), and is provided with a transversely driven trolley (9,10) equipped with a tool (16). Before a working cycle, the accuracy of movement in the longitudinal and transverse directions is checked by means of stationary measurement marks and a sensor (17) rigidly attached to the trolley (9). The deviations from the true positions are determined by an electronic unit (39) which numerically evaluates the data from the sensor. The measurement marks are located on the machine foundation outside the workspace. The test movements are activated by means of a numerical control unit (35). Work is stopped when deviations from true values exceed a predetermined limit. An optoelectronic camera can be used in the role of the sensor (17). The evaluation unit (39) provides input to computer unit (40) which correctively influences the numerical control unit (35). The appts. also includes a printer (41) for recording the deviations of the machine movement from the true positions.
