DIGITAL ZOOMING SYSTEM

The system obtains sum and difference values for two neighbouring pixels from a digitised video colour image signal retrieved from addressable memory. Horizontal and vertical interpolations are calculated with respect to the sum and difference values according to generated coefficients corresponding to a zooming factor. A digital filter is included in the vertical interpolating calculation circuit to compensate for edge degradation. Address and coefficient generators are supplied by control signals from a controller. The sum and difference interpolation signals are mixed and converted to an analogue magnified colour image signal.
