<p>The production line control system operates on a production line with multiple work stations positioned along the line. The work stations are equipped with various machine tools, and connected by a data communication network for the downloading of control programmes and commands. Each work station is modular in form, with exchangeable units. A startup command to the workstation control unit initiates self test and reporting of any failure. Work stations have an identity number, which is used for data and command transmission.</p>
